Quelling the meeting silence

Nobody speaking up isn’t the same as everybody agreeing.

Silence in a meeting can mean disengagement, consensus, boredom, fear, or simply that nobody’s been asked a direct question yet.

Next time a room goes quiet, don’t assume that everyone agrees. Ask someone what they think, then another, then another until such time as the silence is quelled.
