Job vs. career

A job is transactional. You turn up, you do the thing, you get paid. There's nothing wrong with that. The world needs people who show up and consistently do the thing. Jobs provide experience, insights and ultimately help us to determine what a future in work may look like.

A career is different. It's intentional. It has direction. You're not just accumulating experience, you're building towards something. Getting better, on purpose, in a direction that aligns with what you’re interested in, who you are and what you actually value.

The difference is the free time that you’re prepared to sacrifice researching, planning and learning. It's the mindset that you have to improve.

Jobs provide security, but careers provide satisfaction.
