Dynamism isn’t an age
For the first time ever, Gen Z founders started more new businesses last year than Baby Boomers did, and 43% plan to start one this year, the highest of any generation.
Why? They're not weighed down by 'the way we've always done it'. There’s no baggage, no sunk costs, no loyalty to a process that was invented many years ago. They see a problem, quickly solution and then, well, have a go.
Meanwhile, established organisations spend fortunes on innovation ‘programmes’ whilst the answer sits in their younger employees. Give them real decisions to make, not just activating the minute-taking via Copilot or telling them to ‘watch was X does’. I wrote recently about ‘Asking the questions you stopped asking’ - this is where those answers come from.
And if you've been around a while like I have? Borrow the mindset. Question one tradition or process this week and see what happens.
Dynamism isn't an age. It's a choice to question the status quo, then act. The young are simply choosing it more often.
