The heavy weight of a grudge

Someone committed a minor workplace infraction months ago, maybe years. Forgot to send you something, didn’t include you on something, took credit for something or maybe just didn’t show up when they should have done. They've likely forgotten it; you haven't.

That's the odd thing about a workplace grudge, it's a weight only you carry, on behalf of someone who set it down long ago. Whilst you waste effort and emotional energy on the remembering, they get on with their work.

And it says more about you than them. Not that you were either wrong or wronged - most of us have been - but that you've chosen to keep it, feed it, and let it sit in your head when there are far more important things to think about.

So put it down. Not for their sake; for your own.
