Habit, not project
Most leaders can tell you when they last reviewed their strategy. Ask the same question about culture and you tend to get a pause, then something about an engagement survey from a while back.
That is the problem in miniature. Strategy and budget get reviewed at most executive meetings. Culture gets set once, if at all, then left alone to drift.
Kotter and Heskett studied over 200 companies across 11 years. The ones that kept adjusting their culture outperformed the ones that stood still. Culture change works best as a habit, not a project.
Tomorrow I'm publishing a new white paper on how culture actually changes. I'll share it here.
